A ROK soldier standing guard over the conference room at the DMZ. This is where generals and national leaders of North and South Korea meet.
The line made from the microphone, through the flag, to the soldier, is on the demarcation line between South Korea and North Korea. South Korea is on the left. That means this picture was taken from inside the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
Whew, we are back on the correct side of the line. This is the closest that we were allowed to get to the guard. Luckily for Danielle, it is a South Korean guard.
We are back on the other side of the line. Those shiny white tiles? North Korean. Those cute little shoes? Not in South Korea anymore, Toto.
That concrete slab running between the buildings is the line itself. Once again, this picture was taken from the wrong side of the line. 0_0
Whew! Safe again. Those are South Korean soldiers that stand perfectly still while watching the line. The two soldiers to either side stand only half-way exposed to protect them from snipers. The guy in the middle, I guess he is just out of luck.
The North Korean version of a welcoming party. If you squint, you can see him in the middle bottom of the picture, wearing a tan uniform.
The last stop on our tour was the Bridge of No Return. That's because if you go over it, you never return. Not a pun or a joke.
Totally craycray!!!!
ReplyDeleteI want to go there if/when we come to visit. I'll have to restrain myself to not run across the bridge though!
